Copyright, like all intellectual property, is based on the premise that the education and hard work that goes into creation should be rewarded, and that that creation should be made available for further creation. This presentation will look back at the fundamentals of copyright to demonstrate how copyright supports OER and look forward to how OER can be fostered to generate more copyrightable works to support creators.
