This presentation describes the lessons embedded throughout my open history course that help students to practice foundational research and writing skills. These skills-based lessons are scaffolded throughout the course as students work on course projects and can be adopted individually or as a set and adapted as needed. This presentation aligns to Action Area 1.B and includes discussion of the lessons and associated workbook, lessons learned and suggestions for instructors incorporating research into open courses.
